A while ago, I wrote some things about my transition timeline, which led to many other thoughts about what I wanted out of my life in the future.
The truth is, I had to let the website go down recently because I couldn't afford the hosting cost. We were short on rent and it broke my heart to get the email that the site hosting was rescinded as a result.
I guess you could call it an epiphany of sorts.
I don't want to ever let this site go down again if I can help it, if its useful to even one person in our community. So, I decided to try and figure out a path to make sure that's possible.
Here's the plan:
1. Offer creative campaign, market research, and digital strategy consulting in order to monetize what we're good at (aka - "keep the lights on.")
With over a decade spent in various fields of research, sales, and content production, we feel pretty good about our ability to acquire reliable information and turn that into strategic marketing insights at this point. Our partners and clients can expect top-quality research information and production value in exchange for their valuable time and attention.
2. Provide a platform for more voices to join the conversation, punctuating personal narratives with data.
We know there are other people out there looking to share their voices and add to the conversation with their own experiences, but it's not fair to ask them to do it for free. We're looking to find interesting intersections of daily life that we can underscore with the addition of social media data to situate the narrative against a larger context. Additionally, we want to share most of the money from 'sponsored posts' directly with the authors contributing their voices.
3. Grow our online presence over time.
It's just a very small team operating right now, but it doesn't always have to be that way. As with any new business, our goal is to bring other people on board so that we can expand the number of clients we're able to sustain on an ongoing basis.
We have some larger dreams, too.
But we'll need your hope to get there.
